I had read an article. It was about the identity of Korea. When I was young, I was taught at school that historically Korea was a homogeneous ethnic group and no mixed blood with others. Korean people considered that is our national pride and self-esteem.
 On the other hand, the article's writer said this stereotype had negative effects an our national development today. So, we should build up a new cultural identity by accepting cultural diversity from other countries and by blending with our own unique traditional culture.
If we keep resisting cultural variety in this global society, we will not be able to avoid cultural isolation like North Korea. I think it is not the only way to keep our traditional culture identity by denying other culture. Taking an advantage of other culture and mixing and making a harmony with ours could be an alternative way to keep and make new identity.

  In this unit we learn some American cultures,so we know some cultural differences with our country.For example,In the U.S. a lot of people have some food with bread for their lunch or dinner,and so many people like to eat a lot of meat.So Hamberger ,Hotdog,Taco,etc are Americans' favorate.We do not to change our life styles specially,we just try to accept some American cultures,If you do that,I think you will have a better life in U.S.

Benin the first coutry of Peace in Africa

Peace is a state of harmony characterized by the lack of violent conflict. Commonly understood as the absence of hostility, peace also suggests the existence of healthy or newly healed interpersonal or international relationships, prosperity in matters of social or economic welfare, the establishment of equality, and a working political order that serves the true interests of all. In international relations, peacetime is not only the absence of war or conflict, but also the presence of cultural and economic understanding .

Benin  offered a lot of refugee capms to people who are runing for "War". 

Benin is tiny place in the world

 but  on the top when it come to talk about peace in Africa.

Benin is the only country in Africa where religious point of views doesn't realy matter.

Jeremy Lin, the first American born NBA player of Asian heritage. He 's a basketball star. He was born in America and raise as American. He's more of a normal height and do things in the American way, but you can learn so many things from his Asian heritage, hardworking, honest,and composed. People called him " the light of Asian" or "the proud of Asian". Many Chinese people are proud of him because of the same cultural heritage, but respect his American identity at the same time. Forget about where he come from, I only see a young man win the applause by working hard.

 After readung the identity culture reading" I want to be Miss America", I realized that it is very important to be proud of my cultural identity. I don't want to regret not having the pride of my culture as the author of this article does until later she realizes that she was wrong and now it is too late to become proud of her Dominican nationality. Looking and being like the people who live in the country I recently moved to, America, is a good thing; however, spending my whole life copying the styles of the girls and the beauty pageants in the new country could be frustrating thing, so it is better to wait for being one of the people of the new country gradually. Thus, I will always realize that I am Iraqi first and American second.

I learned many articles in this unit on Cultural Identity. One of " I want to Be Miss America" gets an expression to me . The writer through a pageant which is a TV show to tell us about American tradition and culture. Before I didn't like watch TV about other countries, but now I often watch TV to know the other countries culture and tradition. I am very happy to learn this article and unit.

Cultural Diversity

After I read “They‘ve Got to Be Carefully Taught”, I realized it was very important to find a right time and a good way that how to let children know what Cultural Diversity is. According to content, the teacher, Miss Laura, just let the children know they were different from each other. They would not know the teacher wanted them to focus on the cultural diversity because they were too young. They would think that they were born in the U.S., why the teacher said they should know other country’s culture. The kids were learning about separation and not connection. Maybe they would learn racism. That could be a bad way to let the kids to know the cultural diversity. Finding a right time and a good way to teach children cultural diversity is very important.

as i konw . popular culture focuses on reading and writing about things in your world , like tv ,movies , music and technolgy . popular means - of the people .the common people or the popular at large .
peole like us.let me know that american is big culture .but there are have many kinds. there are some speical and different . the dream of diversity is like there dream of equality . even though race and ethnicity run deep in american society ,we should in the theory be able to find areas that are at least culturally diverse .

Faisal's Cultural Identity Wrap-up: Americanization vs. Globalization

                         Americanization is a very new concept for me, although globalization was a term I already knew Americanization made me think of world world changing as American will. However, now the world is changing and the way people think, and guiding us with a new perspective of Globalization. The world is globalizing with an entire new psyche of people, and every one is getting a chance to explore and open their culture to everybody.

Diverse Country has diverse culture

Culture refers to a society are a unique belief, habits, system, disposition, thinking mode etc. as like the global economy integration and the social informatization development. Communication is more and more frequent between countries. Home to the survival of humans is becoming more and more like a "global village". Countries cultural differences still exist. I remember I was watching a movie “Scraping”early. The movie's actor used scraping to gave his son Treatment of the common cold. Scrapping Was method to treat the child protection organization accused. This is an abuse of children. The misunderstanding finally although eliminated. The movie's ending gave an actor life with catastrophic consequences. The scrapping of the Chinese people and American people performance differences, not only in americana laws and moral standards, etc., and touch legal theory, conceptions, even Chinese medicine theory and so on many issues. The cultural differences between China and the United States revealed in many aspects, such as American used to use body language to express embraced and kissed the friendly and close between people communicate with each other, when people watch each other, americans think the other's eyes nitriles is a very important piece of matter. In China, we are not Importance Physical and eye contact Between the people. We still think look straight into the eyes of a man is not condescension or do not respect each other's performance. This reflected in thinking mode, customs, religious belief and non-verbal communication differences between Chinese and western sinuous and even in economic and cultural and political aspect to have the conflict of one of the main reasons should not be neglected. Chinese and american culture has a difference cultural convergence. They have Combined yearningly of the cultural. I will maintain cultural diversity at the same time, with fresh for mutual understanding, enhance strengthen exchanges and communication.

Diverse Country, But Independent Group

   When I read the "People Like Us", it changed my thought. I just think American is a diverse country which melts a lot different culture around the world. I never think people just live in their group in American, just like every Chinese wants to live in China town, they don't want to communicate with people is from other country. People like to live someone who looks like them. I think it is a personal nature. Even if you like the culture of Korean, you can't go into deep. You can't live with them, so that you don't understand their traditional stuff deeply. For example, a lot of American know the Chinese New Year, but few Americans know how Chinese people to celebrate their festival. In the other hand, it is very difficult to me or my sister to communicate with someone who was born in American. Sometimes, I can't have a same topic with my cousin. We just said "hello" to each other when we met. He had been in American when he was 10 years old. Although we are Chinese, we have same language, same tradition, and so on. However, We have different education, so that we have dissimilar way to think about the same situation. How interesting we are!
